Iowa Park mother charged in alleged assault with gun

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — An Iowa Park woman was arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at her child's father and hitting him in the head with it due to his inappropriate activities in front of their child with her new girlfriend.

After interviews and an investigation, police charged Katie Ormiston with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.


According to a police officer, the victim drove into the police parking lot on Tuesday, June 25, at a high rate of speed, went to a police officer and told him, “She,” referring to Ormiston, was “doing it again.”

He said she had a gun in her hand and hit him in the face with it and he didn't put his hands on her.

Police went to the home where the alleged incident took place and found Ormiston on the porch.

She told police the dispute began when she told the alleged victim she intended to file a restraining order against him because of his and his new girlfriend's inappropriate activities. in front of her child.

She said he grabbed her by the hair and they started fighting, first in the bathroom and then in the living room.

She said she hit him several times and went for the gun when he started yelling at their child. She said she pointed it at him and told him to stop yelling at their child, and he took the gun and left with their child.

Police said evidence confirmed that Dalton had been hit and that there had been a fight in the home.

Wichita County arrest and court records show no prior charges filed against Ormiston.
