Investigation underway into San Mateo shooting

To log in SAN MATEO — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting Thursday afternoon in San Mateo, police said. Officers were called to East Hillsdale Boulevard and South Norfolk Street around 4:45 p.m. for reports of a shooting, the San Mateo Police Department said in an advisory. No suspects or victims were found at the scene, but police determined the suspect ran toward a nearby apartment. The victim, meanwhile, was found in San Carlos and taken to the hospital to receive medical treatment. Officers located the suspect's location and negotiated his surrender, police said. Residents in the area were asked to shelter in place while police investigated the shooting. Reports of another shooting victim found in Millbrae were not connected to the San Mateo shooting, police said. Police said more details about the incident would be released Friday.
