Investigation underway after shooting involving El Paso County Sheriff's Office

EL PASO COUNTY — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) responded through a reporter to a deputy-involved shooting that occurred around 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The Sheriff's Office confirms the incident under investigation is a deputy-involved shooting.

A 911 call was received this morning regarding an argument between a group of people in the 4300 block of Chamberlain South. A person was seen with a weapon during the altercation.

When deputies arrived, they made contact with the armed person. Officers reportedly fired at least one shot before the suspect fled the scene, stealing an unmarked sheriff's vehicle.

The vehicle was tracked to the Sienna Place Apartments, where the suspect was arrested. The suspect received medical treatment and was transported to a local hospital.

EPCSO also reported that a woman injured at the initial scene was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

No deputies were injured during the incident.

Per agency policy, the remainder of the investigation will be handled by the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The sheriff's office says there is no threat to the public, but is asking people to avoid the area of ​​Chamberlin and Lashelle streets.

Deputies are also in the area of ​​a second scene on Lenmar Drive in the Stratton Meadows area.
