Inmate who escaped from Northern California prison captured

A man who escaped from a Northern California prison and spent nearly two weeks on the run was captured Saturday in Monterey. James Xiong, an inmate who walked away from Delta Conservation Camp in Solano County on May 13, 2024. He was later apprehended around 1 p.m. Saturday. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said physical force and a Taser were necessary to stop him. Xiong was taken to the Soledad Correctional Training Center prison. He will be referred to the Solano County Prosecutor's Office for possible escape charges. Xiong was sentenced out of Fresno County in March 2015 to serve a six-year sentence for first-degree robbery and a concurrent three-year sentence for vehicle theft from another. felony violation, according to the CDCR. He was then released on parole in November 2019, then violated his parole in Nevada County in September 2022, according to CDCR. He was sentenced to six years in prison for grand theft over $950. He was also sentenced in Kings County in August 2023 to one year and four months for possession of a firearm by a felon or drug addict.

He was then released on parole in November 2019, then violated his parole in Nevada County in September 2022, according to CDCR.

He was sentenced to six years in prison for grand theft over $950. He was also sentenced in Kings County in August 2023 to one year and four months for possession of a firearm by a felon or drug addict.
