Inmate teens arrested with stolen vehicle after chase, state patrol says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The three teenagers who escaped from the Lincoln Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center were arrested Friday evening.

The Lincoln Police Department responded to reports of three juveniles who escaped from the facility at 7 p.m.

According to law enforcement, several agencies searched the area, but did not find the teens.

Officials said LPD learned of a vehicle stolen in the area.

At 10:30 p.m., a trooper located the stolen vehicle traveling on Interstate 680 in Omaha, according to the State Patrol.

The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the teens refused to stop.

The miners ran a red light and fled.

The Omaha police helicopter was already overhead and took over from the air.

The State Patrol said the drivers followed the vehicle to the area of ​​31st and Curtis streets, where the teens fled on foot.

Two of the minors were taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Officials said the third was found by an OPD K9.

That teen was treated for minor injuries and all three were lodged at the Douglas County Youth Center on multiple charges, according to the State Patrol.
