Indian teenager driving Porsche that killed two people ordered to write essay

An Indian court has granted bail to a drunken teenager who crashed his Porsche into a motorcycle and killed two people, on the condition that he “write an essay” about the incident.

The court also asked the 17-year-old boy from Pune in the western state of Maharashtra to seek treatment for his drinking, attend counseling sessions and work with police local for 15 days.

The boy's lawyer, Prashant Patil, said, “The juvenile accused who was arrested by the Pune police was released on bail by the Juvenile Justice Board under certain conditions, including that the accused must work with the Yerawada traffic police for 15 days, the accused should write an essay on the accident, should seek treatment from the concerned doctor to help him quit drinking and should undergo psychiatric counseling and submit the report.

Police said they would appeal the bail order and treat the accused as an adult.
