Thane, Jun 30 (PTI) Police in Maharahtra's Thane district have registered a case against a man for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman and attempting to peddle her kidney, an official said on Sunday .

According to the FIR, the accused Rahul, with aliases like Vasim, Chandan and Kundankumar, allegedly sexually assaulted the woman at her home in Nalasopara area a few days ago.

Rahul was apparently in contact with two other women over organ trafficking with the 20-year-old, the official said.

After being threatened by him to get the 'job' done, the two women took the 20-year-old to the hospital on Saturday to hand her over to Rahul. However, the plan did not work, the official said.

Meanwhile, a fourth woman got information about Rahul's activities and informed the police. Based on her complaint, the police have booked Rahul for rape and human trafficking under the Indian Penal Code, he added.
