Increased reward for information on fatal shooting of mother and daughter on Florida Turnpike

BROWARD COUNTY, Florida. – Broward Crime Stoppers is now increasing its reward for information leading to an arrest after a 4-year-old girl and her mother died after being shot on the Florida Turnpike last week.

The Florida Highway Patrol said troopers responded shortly after 11:50 p.m. June 6 to the northbound lanes of the Turnpike, south of Hollywood Boulevard, and found both had suffered injuries. gunshot wounds.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the victims were 4-year-old Janelle Souffrant and her mother, Beatrice Saintvil.

“The vehicle was parked in the left breakdown lane,” BSO spokeswoman Claudinne Caro said in a statement. “The Hollywood Fire Department responded to the scene and transported Saintvil to a local hospital where she later died. Sadly, her daughter was pronounced dead at the scene.

FHP troopers temporarily closed the Florida Turnpike in both directions on June 7. A tow truck removed a car riddled with bullet holes from the front and rear passenger side.

“At the request of the FHP, BSO homicide detectives responded to the scene and are currently investigating this fatal shooting,” Caro said.
