IDF destroys rocket launcher in Rafah, eliminates terrorists

The Israeli army said on Sunday that it was continuing its operations in Rafah, the southern part of the Gaza Strip and the last stronghold of Hamas.

Describing the operations as intelligence-driven, the IDF said it had located large quantities of weapons and eliminated terrorists.

During the fighting, a rocket launcher used to fire on soldiers was destroyed minutes later thanks to the joint efforts of fighters from the Nahal Brigade and the Israeli Air Force. No soldiers were injured during the incident.

In central Gaza, ground troops received air cover that helped eliminate terrorists.

More than 30 terrorist targets have been attacked since Saturday, the army said, including military infrastructure, weapons storage facilities and armed terrorist cells that posed a threat to IDF ground troops.

This comes after the IDF said it attacked several Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.

On the diplomatic scene, efforts to achieve a cessation of hostilities continue, with an Israeli proposal for a ceasefire and hostage exchange being examined by Hamas.

Israel's far-right leaders, however, have pledged to overthrow the government if Israel agrees to a ceasefire with Hamas.
