ICICI bank director summoned by Labor Ministry for alleged illegal dismissal of staff

Top management of ICICI Bank has been asked to meet officials of the Labor Ministry for a joint discussion on June 28, 2024 at 11:30 am in New Delhi over allegations of illegal dismissal of employees, according to a document accessed and verified by NDTV Profit .

The joint discussion follows emails received by the ministry alleging the banker of illegal dismissal without prior information.

The document names managing director and chief executive officer Sandeep Bakshi, along with people including Abhinay Rai, Sneha Ghodekar and Dharmendra Gupta, who have already taken to social media to demand unfair dismissal, as well as Nainish Ashok Kumar Rathi.

The document said the decision was taken after a joint discussion held on June 14, 2024 and receipt by the office of the Chief Labor Commissioner of various emails against ICICI Bank alleging illegal dismissal without prior notification.

Additionally, the document said emails alleged the bank “continues to do the same thing without following process and policy.”

“You are therefore requested to attend the discussion either personally or through an authorized representative deputed from Headquarters, who should be well informed of the matter on the date, time and place mentioned herein. Written submissions, if any, in this regard may be submitted in advance to this office by sending a copy to all concerned,” the document addressed to individuals notes.

Responses to queries sent to ICICI Bank did not elicit responses at the time of publication.
