Andrea Barber remembers an uncomfortable moment she experienced while filming Full House. The actress, who was a teenager when she starred in the ABC sitcom, revealed how mortified she felt when she had to stuff her bra for a sequence in the series.

Barber starred as Kimmy Gibbler in all eight seasons of the series and its Netflix sequel, Fuller House. In one of the episodes, Barber's character joined high school and decided to get a makeover with makeup and a padded bra to fit in with her older classmates.

Andrea Barber's mortifying experience stuffing her bra as a teen actor on Full House

In a recent episode of his podcast How Rude, Tanneritos!, Barber talked about the season 3 Full House episode, Back to School Blues. Discussing the experience of filming with her co-host, Jodie Sweetin, the actress revealed how the creators asked her to pad her bra.

The episode's premise has Kimmy Gibbler and DJ Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure) getting an '80s makeover, weaning themselves off mini-dresses and wearing makeup loudly, under peer pressure in high school. While Gibbler stuffs her bra with pads on the show, Barber had to do it in real life to film the sequence.

In the podcast, Sweetin asked, “I was dying when I watched that. Hilarious. Ridiculous. What do you think about it today? To this, Barber responded that she was mortified. “It’s an essential memory. I was pretty flat at that age, which isn't a big deal. This is very normal. But then when they wanted – okay, they wanted me to wear falsies, but then, of course, the joke has to work,” the actress said.

“So I had producers coming up to me between takes and giving notes to wardrobe saying, 'We need more padding.' We need it bigger. And it was mortifying to have men looking at my breasts,” the actress added.

Barber says she doesn't think pads were necessary in the scene

Speaking further about the experience, Barber said: “I don’t think we need it. [the padding]. I think they got the message with the fishnets and the tight skirts and the crazy hair, you know, wildly teased. I think that was enough. We didn't need fakes either.

The actress also revealed that looking back on the scene, she had a problem with it. “I keep thinking, 'What if that was my daughter, my 13-year-old daughter, over there and men are talking about her bust size?' I would have a problem with that if I was the mother,” she said.

However, Barber also added that although the scene was uncomfortable, she fortunately was not traumatized by it and felt fine. “I'm fine now. It didn't impact me,” she said before concluding: “I didn't like it. And that memory stayed with me.”
