Husband of South Florida woman missing in Spain faces indictment in her disappearance

MIAMI – The ex-husband of a South Florida woman reported missing in Spain is scheduled to appear in Miami federal court Monday for his arraignment.

David Knezevich faces a kidnapping charge linked to the disappearance of Ana Henao Knezevichwho was last seen on February 2 in Madrid.

Family members say Ana Knezevich left for Madrid in late December to get away from her husband and that they were going through a difficult divorce.

Prosecutors say new surveillance video shows David Knezevich buying spray paint and, on the day Ana disappeared, spraying a security camera in her apartment. They said he was also seen leaving Ana's apartment building with a suitcase.

Last month, a judge ruled that David Knezevich was a flight risk and denied him bail.

Federal officials said records show David Knezevich flew from Miami to Turkey in January, then traveled to Belgrade, Serbia, where he rented a small Peugeot on January 29.

The owner of the rental car agency told investigators that when the car was returned in mid-March, someone had tinted its windows and added a new license plate frame, and that it had traveled nearly 4,800 miles, according to the criminal complaint.

Toll cameras captured images of the same Peugeot model, with tinted windows, near Madrid late at night and early in the morning on February 2 and 3. The license plates of another vehicle were stolen from the street in Madrid where Ana Knezevich lived, according to the complaint. .

The Knezevichs have been married for 13 years. They own EOX Technology Solutions Inc., which provides IT support to businesses in South Florida.
