Husband charged with killing wife in downtown Milwaukee shooting

Timothy Lewis told police he “just lost it there.”

A Milwaukee man is accused of shooting and killing his wife Saturday near North Cass and East Wells streets in downtown Milwaukee. Neighbors helped identify the 60-year-old woman as Jackie Beason. Beason's birthday, according to neighbors, was Saturday. A criminal complaint says her husband, Timothy Lewis, was arguing with Beason when he shot her in the cheek. Her daughter, it is said, was on the phone with Beason before the shooting and heard her arguing with Lewis. Another woman called 911 and said she saw the shooting happen. Later that day, police stopped Lewis who was driving a white Mercedes Benz that neighbors reported at the scene of the shooting, the complaint states. He also admitted that he owned a firearm and had a concealed carry permit, the complaint states. He said he told police he knew he was “…going to jail for a long time and he knew the police were looking for him.” A day later, police questioned Lewis. He said he arranged a massage and pedicure for his wife and drove to where she was receiving the massage, the complaint states. He heard she was on the phone with her daughter, it is said. “Lewis said his wife and daughter were yelling at him and he was tired and pulled out his gun,” the criminal complaint states. “He said he “just lost it right then and there.” Lewis said he shot him once and thought he shot him in the jaw. He said he was the one who did it; no one else had done it. “Lewis was charged with first-degree reckless homicide Tuesday evening. He is currently being held in the Milwaukee County Jail.
