Human remains found in Long Lake area of ​​Whitehorse identified as missing man

The Yukon Coroner's Service has confirmed that human remains discovered in May in the Long Lake area of ​​Whitehorse are those of missing man Roy Thomas Jackson.

Jackson, 55 years old, was last seen in Whitehorse on September 13, 2019. Police reported Jackson missing more than a month later, in October. Yukon RCMP said at the time that they had recently been reported missing.

His remains were found on May 13 in the Long Lake Trail area, but his identity was unknown at the time.

Specialists from the British Columbia Coroners Service in Vancouver conducted forensic anthropology and DNA analysis to identify Jackson, a news release from the Yukon Coroners Service said.

The release said an extensive search for Jackson was conducted throughout southern Yukon and northern British Columbia.

The Yukon Coroner's Service and Whitehorse RCMP are continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding Jackson's disappearance is asked to contact the RCMP or the Yukon Chief Coroner's Office.
