Mississippi family 'traumatized' by shocking carjacking in their own backyard

Police in Jackson, Mississippi, have identified two suspects linked to a shocking May 24 carjacking in which a family was gunned down in their own front yard. Video captured on resident Heather Allen's surveillance video shows two men approaching her front yard. The men opened fire as Allen and his son stood outside. Allen told Storyful that his other son, daughter and two grandchildren were sitting in the car next to them. The video then shows Allen's family getting out of the car as the suspects try to take it. Her daughter can be heard screaming: “My babies! My babies ! » Speaking to local media, Allen said one of the men kept shouting for the car keys. When they didn't know how to take the first car, Allen threw them the keys to another car. The suspects left the scene in the second car, Allen said. The Jackson Police Department recovered the car about two blocks away and only 40 minutes after the incident. Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade confirmed investigators have identified two persons of interest in connection with the carjacking. “I had the opportunity to watch the video of Ms. Allen and her family having their car stolen and carjacked in their driveway,” Wade said. “It was extremely disturbing for me. This was very concerning to me, because a threat to them and their family is a threat to everyone. » A GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign has since been organized to help the family following the incident. “We are very traumatized by all of this,” Allen said.
