Human remains at Canora identified as William “Michael” Neuman

William Neuman was reported missing on December 20, 2023, after Canora RCMP received a request to conduct a welfare check at a residence in Canora.

CANORA – Remains recently found in Canora have been identified as William Neuman, who was reported missing to the Canora RCMP on December 20, 2023. His family has been informed and victim support services have been made available. .

Canora RCMP began their investigation after discovering human remains around 2:45 p.m. on May 22 on Railway Avenue in Canora. At the time, investigators said they did not believe the death was suspicious.

Investigators consulted a forensic anthropologist and a pathologist, who examined the remains. Investigators also notified relatives of people who had previously been reported missing from the Canora area and had not yet been located.

Neuman was reported missing on December 20, 2023 after Canora RCMP received a request to conduct a welfare check on an adult male at a residence on Roslyn Avenue in Canora. Officers checked the residence and did not find the adult male. It was determined that he had not been seen at the residence for several days and it was believed that he may be injured and require urgent medical attention. Further investigation determined that he was last physically seen in Canora on or about December 5th.

RCMP have asked local residents to check their properties, including outbuildings, for any signs of Neuman or any items that appear out of place. Saskatchewan RCMP traffic services, dog services and remotely piloted aircraft systems, as well as conservation officers from the Provincial Protective Services Branch all assisted in the search.

Investigators even thought he may have traveled to British Columbia and asked residents to watch out for him.
