EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (WJW) – The FOX 8 I-Team has learned from law enforcement sources that human bones were found in the backyard of an East Cleveland home Monday.

Multiple law enforcement agencies spent several hours investigating the property in the 14000 block of Strathmore Avenue.

Authorities arrived around 1 a.m. Monday and remained on scene until the sun rose around 6 a.m.

According to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department, deputies executed a search warrant in the 14200 block of Potomac Ave. in Cleveland as part of a missing persons investigation on June 1.

The missing person case involved a woman who was reported missing from Warrensville Heights.

According to the Sheriff's Department, the search in Potomac led to an additional search warrant on Strathmore Ave. in East Cleveland, where the remains were found.

The remains have not been identified.

In addition to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation were also on scene.

It's not yet clear how long authorities believe the remains could be on the property.
