Nevada authorities responded to a large brush fire behind Procter R. Hug High School in Sparks, near Reno, early Tuesday. Fire crews were battling the blaze near Sullivan Lane and El Rancho Drive, according to a police news release. Officers urged people not to travel to the area. Sparks police said several accidents have occurred in the area due to spectators.

Returning to the scene, one person said the fire had consumed approximately 35 acres. “The fire, which started behind Hug High School, is spreading rapidly and is now threatening various structures. Local residents are on high alert as the situation evolves,” reads former X Twitter platform.

“A huge bushfire near Hug High School has caused evacuations and road closures! Stay informed and find out how this is affecting our community,” added another.

Located in Sparks, Nevada, Procter R. Hug High School opened a new campus in August 2022. It features state-of-the-art facilities, including two gyms, a 425-seat performing arts center, a multimedia center , a music room. , and a library with physical books.
