How to get Lathander's Blood Mace in Baldur's Gate 3

THE Baldur's Gate 3 Blood of Lathander The weapon is one of the few legendary armaments in the game and is an incredible weapon for a cleric like Shadow Heart. It provides a powerful spell in the form of Sunbeam and revives you once per long rest if you are downed, healing all nearby party members. The problem is that the weapon is at the heart of the Githyanki nursery, Y'llek.

To get the mace, you'll need to find a way in, either by befriending the Githyanki (or at least making them less hostile) and then going to the Inquisitor's chamber. You'll also have to solve the small problem of destroying the monastery if you take the mace, but let's take it step by step, shall we? Here's how to get the Blood of Lathander mace in Baldur's Gate 3.

So first things first: to get the blood of Lathander, you need to travel to the Inquisitor's chambers deep in the Githyanki Nursery, near the mountain pass. You can do this by giving Kith'rak Therezzyn the artifact in his office (don't worry, he rejects it and returns to your hands), but if you'd rather not talk to him, you can also steal the key from use on the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor near the gate.

When you enter the Inquisitor's room, he will call you, which will start a cutscene that will likely end in a fight. If you want to find the mace instead, ignore the Inquisitor for now, go around him to the left and jump into the west room with the two statues inside. The statue on the left bears a plaque saying “Lathander bids farewell to the setting sun”, while the one on the right says “Lathander blesses the generous rising sun”. What you need to do is turn them in the direction of sunrise and sunset, even if a statue is stuck:

  • Hit the statue on the left with an attack for at least ten damage to take it off.

  • Turn the left statue to face west: the setting sun.

  • Turn the right statue to face east: the rising sun.

This reveals a door in front of you and allows you to access the secret area containing the mace, although there are still a few hoops to jump through.

In the next section, you will have to cross three barriers by destroying the crystals that keep them active, then disarm or avoid the traps in between. Here's what you need to do:

  • Destroy the first crystal to open the barrier.

  • Avoid the Dawnbreaker trap straight ahead by turning left and going around the edge of the cliff to behind the next barrier.

  • Disarm the next Dawnbreaker, then look over the northern edge of the cliff to see a crystal below that you can shoot, opening the final barrier.

You should now be in the room with the mace. There are all kinds of checks you can do to examine the weapon and the device it is contained in, but in summary: if you take the mace, the monastery will explode. Not right away, mind you, but you'll need to quickly resolve the situation before that spear on the roof destroys everything. You have two options:

  • Destroy Lathander's Solar Machines in four turns: These devices are found in every corner of the room. It's worth noting that they can only be damaged with ranged attacks, and you'll only have three characters to use in the fight, since one of them is trapped with the mace during all of this, so choose your group and which takes mass accordingly.

  • Use the Dawnbender Crest: If you completed the Stained Glass Window puzzle at the top of Rosymorn Monastery above, you will obtain the Dawnbender Crest, which can be inserted under where the mace is to disarm the weapon. This puzzle is quite elaborate, however, and it doesn't offer particularly surprising rewards.

Do either and the sequence is interrupted, allowing you to conserve mass. The Blood Mace of Lathander itself is one of the few legendary weapons in the game, and if you're about to head to the Shadow-Cursed Lands, its Light of Lathander condition illuminates the space around you. you and blinds enemies, which is very useful.
