How to get and use the Star Sword in Elden Ring – Destructoid

There's finally a weapon that brings together all the bleed and magic builds I've tried. Ancient Ring. The Star Sword is a new katana in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and you can pick it up almost as soon as you arrive in the Land of Shadow.

Intelligence builds who still want to use one weapon most of the time will love this one. Here's how to find the Star Sword in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Star-Ringed Sword Location

The Star Sword is dropped by a field boss called Demi-human Queen Marigga. To get there, start at the Cerulean West Coast Grace Site, then go around the rubble and head north through a narrow passage in the canyon. Continue this passage until you reach a fork, then turn left. After a little more walking, you should go up a hill and see a new stretch of coastline that is absolutely teeming with demi-humans.

Several demihumans are larger than your garden variety, but Queen Marigga should still be easy to spot as she towers over them all. Before you head into battle against her, you should save yourself a headache by eliminating as many demi-humans as possible. Queen Marigga isn't too difficult to beat alone, especially if you've collected Scadutree Shards. She mainly uses melee attacks that you will have to dodge, and from time to time she will throw Glintstone pebbles at you. Riding Torrent trivializes combat since you can circle around her almost faster than she can launch an attack on you.

Star-Rimmed Sword Stats and Scaling

The Star Sword requires 10 Strength, 23 Dexterity, and 21 Intelligence to wield. It has E, C, and D scaling respectively with these stats, so it will mainly be useful for Tarnished with Dex/Int builds. The imbued skill, Line of Eleven Stars, allows you to perform up to three magical attacks. Here are the sword's full stats.

  • Type: Katana (Slash/Pierce)
  • Weapon Skill: Eleven's line of stars
  • Cost of FP: ten
  • Weight: 5.0
  • Attack Power: Physics 82 / Magic 82 / Critical 100

How to use the Star Sword

The Star Sword controls essentially like a regular katana. You can use it alone to keep one hand free to cast magic, or go all out for damage by holding it with both hands. You'll have pretty good range when using the weapon, and you'll want to prioritize finding openings for multiple attacks, as this will help you get the most out of the weapon's bleed effect.

Eleven's star line should help you. His attacks are extremely fast, and contrary to what his name suggests, he does not attack in a straight line at all. Using this skill whips your magic weapon all over the place, and while it's not quite an area effect, it should help you take out enemies whenever you're surrounded. Keep improving your dexterity and intelligence, and don't forget to upgrade the sword with dark forge stones, and you should be good to go.
