How many unsolved missing persons cases are there in Florida?

Chronicles of closed cases

The News-Press and Naples Daily News partner with SWFL Crime Stoppers to raise awareness of unsolved missing persons cases, also known as cold cases.

This is an occasional series that will feature details on a variety of unsolved cases that remain open in sheriff's offices throughout Southwest Florida.

By definition, an unsolved case is considered “cold” when all avenues of investigation have been exhausted. These are mainly homicide cases, but also missing persons cases. Only because years, sometimes even decades, have passed can these cases be resolved.

DID YOU KNOW: In March 2024, SWFL Crime Stoppers announced it was increasing cash rewards for cold case arrests from $3,000 to $5,000.
