Houston murder suspect charged in kidnapping Kaile Goodwin, 29, who disappeared in Baytown, authorities say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man charged with murder in Houston is now accused of kidnapping a Baytown woman.

Kaile Goodwin, 29, has been missing from the Baytown area since April 21 and investigators need the community's help to find her.

Police told ABC13 they believe Goodwin is somewhere in the Houston area. They asked everyone to check their properties and outbuildings for Goodwin. They also asked residents in the city of Houston and Baytown to check surveillance video from the days she disappeared.

“I never thought I would find myself in this situation,” Goodwin's mother, Kaci Richardson, said at a news conference Wednesday.

She's going through something no parent should have to go through. Ten weeks ago, around 7 p.m., Goodwin was last seen near this apartment complex on Decker Drive in Baytown.

The next day, April 22, Richardson said he received a call from an unknown person asking for money. The man provided him with a CashApp account to send the money.

“We want to bring her home, and I'm begging anyone who knows anything to please come forward,” Richardson pleaded.

Investigators told ABC13 they used advanced technology to locate and track a vehicle near the apartment complex and the time it was last seen. The vehicle, police say, was registered to the owner of the CashApp account attributed to Richardson. Detectives say they made contact with that person and learned that a 39-year-old man named Quan Flowers was the boyfriend of the car's registered owner and was with her car when she was in Baytown.

On June 20, investigators said Flowers was charged with aggravated kidnapping of Goodwin. At the time of his arrest, police said Flowers was driving the vehicle that picked up Goodwin at the Baytown apartment.

On Wednesday, police released more details about the case, announcing they had found the phone that called Goodwin's mother asking for money on April 22.

Law enforcement confirmed they located the phone in an area of southwest Houston belonging to a man named Kevin Patterson. Patterson was wanted on unrelated criminal charges and was arrested. At the time of the arrest, investigators said they obtained a search warrant for the home.

Police said during the search they found evidence linking Goodwin to the home and learned that while she was there she was allegedly assaulted by Flowers, the suspect accused of her kidnapping. Police believe she was abducted from the southwest Houston residence, but will not release the exact location of the home.

“It's just horrible. I mean, this man is horrible,” Donna Shaw said.

Shaw knows Flowers' name all too well because he is accused of murdering his 24-year-old daughter, Megan Rouse, records show.

Rouse was found shot to death on May 3 in south Houston near Almeda Road, a week after Goodwin disappeared in Baytown.

Shaw says she has deep feelings for Goodwin's mother and hopes she is found.

“This man is a monster. He doesn't deserve to live,” Shaw said.

Law enforcement said their investigation led them to a home in southwest Houston that was taped to a phone that called Goodwin's mother asking for money while she apparently lay injured in the background.

Goodwin remains missing and is believed to be in Houston. As the search continues, her family and friends want answers.

“We need peace. This whole family needs peace,” Richardson said Wednesday.

If you have any information regarding the whereabouts or disappearance of Kalie Goodwin, please call the Baytown Police Department or Baytown Crimestoppers.
