Houma Man Arrested in Drug Trafficking, Sex Crimes Investigation

HOUMA, La. (WGNO) — A Houma man was arrested Monday, July 1, in connection with a drug trafficking and sex crimes investigation.

According to Louisiana State Police, Javonne Amacker, 29, was taken into custody after search warrants were executed at two separate homes, one on Hibernia Place and the other on Express Boulevard.


The searches were conducted by detectives from the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division, Houma Field Office, Houma Police Department Narcotics Division, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division and Homeland Security Investigations Houma Field Office.

During the search, detectives said they found approximately 23 pounds of marijuana, a handgun and items related to narcotics distribution.

According to the LSP, an unidentified teenager was present during the search.

Amacker was arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on the following charges:

  • Marijuana distribution
  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
  • Possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes
  • Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor

LSP officials said detectives also discovered during the investigation that the teen was allegedly sexually assaulted by Amacker. He was also charged with third-degree rape and indecent behavior with a minor on Tuesday, July 2.

The Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit and the HSI HFO were also mobilized to assist in this case.

The investigation is ongoing.
