Hot and humid today with temperatures feeling near 100 degrees; thunderstorms follow in the evening

A heat advisory is in effect through Saturday due to high humidity and heat creating heat indices near 100.

Forecast

Hot, hazy and humid! That’s today’s story as summer gets into full swing. The haze is from the lingering smoke from last night’s fireworks, so breathe easy — especially in Bergen County where the Hudson River fireworks left a haze in the northeast corner.

Scattered thunderstorms are likely in northern areas of New Jersey today after 2pm due to the humid environment. A major storm cannot be ruled out. The storms will pass through between 2pm and 8pm. They will not be widespread and not all communities will see rain at the same time, but they will move through most of our northern areas at some point today.

The weather will remain humid through the night and will be very humid again tomorrow. The rain will stay away from the beaches today and for most of tomorrow, where there could be a spotty shower in central/southern New Jersey, but once again, most of the showers and thunderstorms will occur in our northern areas again tomorrow late afternoon and evening.

There will be more clouds on Saturday than today or Sunday. Sunday is also a beautiful day. Maximum temperatures this weekend will be around 32°C.
