Homicide victim identified after fatal shooting at Colony Apartments

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – The Richland County Coroner's Office has identified the homicide victim in a shooting at an apartment complex Saturday.

Coroner Naida Rutherford said Marquicas D. Taylor, 23, of Columbia, was found shot to death at the Colony Apartments.

Columbia police say they responded after receiving a Shotspotter alert shortly before 1:30 a.m.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Ballistic evidence was collected at the scene.

Officers say they are working on promising leads as the case is investigated by the Violent Crimes Against Persons Unit.
