Homes evacuated as firefighters work on growing bushfire in Cocoa

BREVARD COUNTY, Florida. – Brevard County firefighters are working a brush fire in Cocoa on Saturday, reporting three acres and growing around 3 p.m.

Units are on scene in the area of ​​Satellite Boulevard and Soggy Bottom Avenue, where several structures are in danger and three homes have been evacuated so far, firefighters said.

A burning ban has been in effect in Brevard County since early May, part of a majority of counties in News 6's coverage area where such bans have recently been implemented.

    • The city of Groveland has had a burning ban in effect since Friday.
  • Seminole County

    • A burning ban has been in effect since May 28.

    • A burning ban has been in effect since May 29.

    • A burning ban has been in effect since May 31.
  • Flagler County

    • A burning ban has been in effect since June 5.
  • Sumter County

    • A burning ban has been in effect since June 6.
  • Marion County

  • Polk County

    • A burning ban has been in effect since May 28.
