Homeless Man Crushed in Fatal Shooting Becomes Fatal Accident Identified

SAN ANTONIO – The third victim in a fatal shooting-turned-crash on the West Side has been identified.

The homeless man fatally crushed by a car that crashed into an embankment has been identified as Roy Alderete, 37, who died of blunt force injuries following the crash.

Late Tuesday evening, a shooting broke out along West Martin Street near Northwest 24th Street.

Police said a man and woman identified as Ariel Martinez, 27, and Jonathan Medrano, 31, were fatally shot when another vehicle pulled up alongside them and opened fire.

The gunfire sent their vehicle off the road and into an embankment, where Alderete and a woman were sitting.

Alderete and Martinez were pronounced dead at the scene. Medrano was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The unidentified woman survived with minor injuries.

Investigators are still trying to identify the suspects involved in the shooting.
