Home and Away's Tane prepares for prison in emotional scenes

Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.

Home and Away's Tane Parata is losing hope for his future next week after being arrested for the kidnapping of baby Maia.

Tane decides that a heavy prison sentence is inevitable after he turns himself in and returns Maia.

The gym director recently fled Summer Bay with Maia, refusing to accept her being placed with emergency foster families. Since then, Maia's mother has come to the police station to pick her up.

This week's episodes see the situation come to a head when Tane contacts Mali Hudson, asking his friend and roommate to get his passport back so he can flee the country with Maia.

Mali has other ideas and brings Harper Matheson to see Tane. Together, they convince him to do the right thing and bring Maia back to the Bay.

In subsequent scenes next week, Tane continues to be detained at the police station after being arrested.

Harper stays at the station to wait for answers and pleads Tane's case to Police Officer Rose Delaney. Rose is not impressed and warns Harper that she and Mali could both face charges for visiting Tane while he was on the run.

Rose shares similar words of warning to her boyfriend Mali, pointing out that he should have involved the police as soon as he found out where Tane was hiding with the baby.

Rose is frustrated at not being able to reach Mali. Worried about the strain on their relationship, she declares that she will be powerless to help him if her boss at the police station decides to press charges against him and Harper.

Later, Tane appears in court and is granted bail. However, he stubbornly calls this small victory “useless”, because he will soon go to prison anyway.
