HITS daily double

Island bosses Imran Majid And Justin Eshak seem to be experiencing their flagship moment with Sabrina Charpentierthe incredible journey of – undoubtedly one of the most important stories of 2024 – and the break-up of Chappell Roan. Majid and Eshak have been at the helm of the label for 2 and a half years now; Conventional wisdom says it usually takes about three years to see if a new team succeeds, and five years to reach the big time. This duo appears to be way ahead of schedule.

Carpenter took the first two places at Spotify global with the monster “Espresso” and its equally muscular (and notably more daring) follow-up, “Please Please Please” (which is No. 1 in the world rankings). Apple Music at the time of writing, while “Espresso” is #7). His new album, Short and sweet, is due 08/23. Carpenter co-wrote both current hits with longtime collaborator Amy Allenwith Julien Bunetta And Stephanie Jones (“Espresso”) and Jack Antonoff (“Please”).

“Espresso” (over 600 million Spotify streams worldwide) and Sabrina’s 2022 hit “Nonsense” (another Bunetta production, with over 800 million streams worldwide on Spot) are both heading to the billion stream mark. The growth rate of “Please” seems higher than that of the two cuts. Carpenter's explosive market action occurred in a remarkably short period of time, but the fuse was lit after the release of his '22 set, emails I can't sendwhich includes “Nonsense”.

Carpenter was signed to Island by A&R exec Jackie Winkler. Carpenter (CAA) received a huge boost from its support on Taylor SwiftIt is Tour of the eras and its new announcement, AEG-the promoted arena tour (starting 9/23) should be a very hot ticket indeed. She will also have an in-depth look at the Outer lands festival, where it takes the place which has just been vacated by Tyler the Creator.

The artist, who developed her talents as a performer in the Disney system, was developed over about a decade by the manager Janelle Lopez Genzinkwhose own Volara Management is part of Red light.

And then there's Roan, whose 2023 set enters the Top 10 this week with 45k, and his streaming smasheroo (“Good luck, baby!” now Top 10 Spotify US and Top 20 worldwide) isn't even on this album – he will. be on his next one, the release date of which remains to be determined. Meanwhile, several other songs gain momentum. After having established good faith, via Coachella And Governors Ball looks like a bold and distinctive artist (Wassermann) Roan looks like he's about to get really big. Its producer and main collaborator is none other than Dan Nigrowhose contributions were essential to O-Stemthe extraordinary success of; they co-wrote “Good Luck, Baby!” » with the very accomplished Justin Tranter. It may be the start of the year, but the Nick Bobetsky-the managed newcomer has definitely moved to Grammy shortlist for Best New Artist consideration.

Breaking two acts at roughly the same time is very unusual. It may be a coincidence that the island's temperature soared following the UMG reorg. But given the narrowness of the island…Republic relationship, wonderers wonder if Majid and Eshak had a little Lipman the magic of the brothers thanks to this bottle of genie that they keep under lock and key.
