Highway 154 is closed near San Antonio Creek Road due to pavement cracks

Caltrans has implemented a complete closure of Highway 154 in both directions, from State Route 192 in Santa Barbara to Hwy. Roundabout 154/246 in Santa Ynez due to pavement cracks extending across all travel lanes. These cracks are over a foot deep and several inches of differential are observed on the surface.

Residents will be able to access the closed section of the highway. 154, but will not be able to use the damaged section of roadway. The main detour during this closure is US 101 and State Route 246.

CalPortland Construction is the primary contractor for this work zone. A specialist contractor (Drilltech) should be on site this evening. It is unclear how long this section of highway will remain closed.

This location is part of an ongoing emergency project to repair a slide. Additional pavement cracks were observed in this existing work zone on Friday, June 21.
