The model who inspired the cover of Duran Duranthe 1982 album, Riowas identified, 42 years after the album's release.

The Instagram account @nagel_angel shared a message revealing this artist and illustrator Patrick Nagel used a 1981 multi-page editorial from Vogue Paris featuring the model Marcie Hunt for the cover. The information was confirmed by the late Nagel's assistant, Barry Hahnwho replied: “Great catch! »

“We suspect the model and possibly the band Duran Duran had no idea Nagel was influenced and used this image to create the cover for their musical masterpiece, 'Rio,'” the post shares . “He certainly changed a lot of things, including taking off his glasses, but he obviously loved his smile. And that smile has been an iconic part of Duran Duran history for decades.

And it seems that the suggestion that Duran Duran didn't know might be right, because they shared the post on Instagram with the comment “WOW!”

Marcie also commented on the reveal, writing, “This is so cool! I had absolutely no idea until now that this photo of me was used for the cover of Rio. Very exciting! I love Duran Duran and often danced to their music in the 80's. And later at my husband Tom's house and at my wedding. Thank you all for your wonderful comments. And yes, I am still alive!
