GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Weeks after a 15-year-old boy was killed while playing football with friends, the Grand Rapids Police Department is asking the community for information.

On June 2, Amillier Penn was shot in broad daylight on Umatilla Street near Madison Avenue in southeast Grand Rapids.

Police on Tuesday asked community members to come forward with any information they had.

“Many people were outside enjoying the nice weather when Amillier was shot,” GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom said in a statement. “We have already interviewed a number of witnesses, but we are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything in relation to this tragic murder to come forward. Even seemingly insignificant details can move this case forward and help GRPD bring justice to Amillier and his family. »

Police say they particularly want to speak with the occupants of an Enterprise truck. The truck was seen on dashcam footage at the approximate time of the shooting, they say.

Amillier's family also asked for witnesses to come forward.

“If you know something, or if your child knows something, just motivate them to contact the authorities so that Amillier can get justice,” Corey Penn, Amillier’s father, previously told News 8. “Call us online and give us all the information you have. Our family is suffering. »
