Helldivers 2's Recent Weapon Change Proves the Devs Are Listening to the Community

The developers of Helldivers 2 have made significant changes to Orbital Precision Strikes, and the community has praised their decision to focus on listening to their player base.

Helldivers 2 was released in February 2024, the sequel launched with a significant number of players, many of whom jumped straight into the game and worked alongside their friends to fight against the various challenges offered by the game.

However, the community is concerned about the game following a significant drop in engagement and player numbers in recent weeks. The lack of updates and news is worrying those who want to see Helldivers 2 continue to develop.

In a new Reddit thread that has over 9,000 upvotes, Helldivers fans have had nothing but praise for the developers after a recent change they made to Orbital Precision Strikes, aligned with player desires, instead of just tweaking the game based on their initial usage.

“The original intent of Precision Orbital Strikes was to be used against spawners and fixed positions. However, that hasn’t stopped the community from using it against just about everything,” the Helldivers 2 development team began.

They added: “Therefore, we want to make its use a little easier against moving targets by reducing the call time. We also reduced the cooldown to make it more available and make it more competitive with Eagle Stratagems.

Following these changes, the Helldivers 2 community praised the team for listening to their community, with many seeing this as a positive sign that “the game is now in good hands.”

One Reddit user commented: “I woke up this morning fully expecting the usual constant slut messaging and moaning that this sub has become known for, but actually I have yet to see one only significant complaint so far, proud of both Arrowhead and the community on this one.”

Another added: “This sub is once again a whirlwind of positivity. Proving definitively that the reaction to criticism was actually just toxic positivity.

Time will tell if these changes will bring players back to the game, however, based on the reactions so far, the Helldivers 2 community is still very much alive and well.
