Helldivers 2 Players Think Developers Are Trying to Secretly Give Them Anti-Tank Mines

At this point, I'm starting to feel a little sorry for Arrowhead Game Studios. The developers spent weeks creating a new Stratagem in Helldivers 2 and the community has been doing their best not to unlock it for the past three months.

U/Darh1407 took to Reddit to speculate that the latest Special Briefing information regarding the current Major Order will lead the devs to try and give players the AT mines again, with the briefing stating:

“The first layer of rubble covering the X-45 Advanced Weapons Lab has been cleared. Early reports indicate that the facility remains largely intact. There may even be a cache of still-functioning weapons from the First Ballistic War within the lab. Further excavation is underway.”

With the mention of a weapons cache, some players are expecting this to be a way for Arrowhead Game Studios to finally give away the anti-tank mines that the community apparently doesn't want to add to their inventory. The anti-tank mines were first revealed back in April when players were given the option to choose them or the Airburst Rocket Launcher. The community chose the Rocket Launcher and I haven't seen another player use it since.

Then, in May, a major order asked players to eradicate 2 billion automatons with the anti-tank mines given as a reward, but players decided to fight the Terminides instead. Finally, last month, players were given the choice between saving a children's hospital or unlocking the mines. The hospital choice turned out to be the right one, as Arrowhead Game Studios ended up donating the proceeds to charity.

Other players are wondering if this will be used as a way to finally give us the anti-tank mines, with U/YeomenEngineer stating: “It would be hilarious if people just refused to buy it and kept losing the ability to collect more samples after spending.”

It’s possible that we could see Helldivers 1’s weapons make a return, but whatever weapon cache we get, we’ll find out soon enough. But until then, now is a great time to optimize your gear to prepare for these potential new additions. To do so, we highly recommend checking out our best weapons guide and our best armor guide for Helldivers 2.
