Helicopter, police respond to stabbing in Citrus Heights – Citrus Heights Sentinel

Citrus Heights Police officers were dispatched to the 7800 block of Lichen Drive at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 27 to respond to a report that two male individuals were involved in a physical altercation. Police say while officers were en route, the dispatcher reported that one of the two individuals had been stabbed with a knife.

Both men suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said, and were taken to the hospital. One of the men was later taken into custody for assault and booked into the Sacramento County Jail.

Citrus Heights Police Lt. Dave Neher confirmed that a Sacramento County Sheriff's Office helicopter was dispatched to monitor the area of ​​Antelope and Lichen to provide “protection” for personnel on the ground. In high-priority calls, Neher said helicopters are often dispatched to help monitor situations from the air.

Police said a third subject was suspected of being involved, either as a witness or someone who “attempted to intervene,” but that person fled the scene before officers arrived and police did not pursue the matter, Neher said.

Several residents on social media described the scene, saying the gas station parking lot had been closed off and covered with yellow tape. Several emergency vehicles were on site, according to testimony. Residents also reported that officers searched a nearby fast food restaurant looking for a third person.
