Have you seen Tanya Garza, 27?

Matthew Davila was arrested for evading arrest after fleeing from CCPD officers as they attempted to arrest him and Tanya Garza on June 7.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Police Department is releasing information regarding the disappearance of 27-year-old Tanya Garza, who was reported missing by her family on Monday.

She would weigh between 4 and 10,100 pounds.

Tanya was last seen June 7 with Matthew Davila as police attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop in Tanya's white SUV, officers said. Davila was driving the vehicle, but the 28-year-old man fled in the vehicle during the stop.

Nearly a week later, on Wednesday, Tanya's white SUV was found burned on the West Side of Corpus Christi. Police searched the area where the car was found with K-9s and drones looking for “anything and everything” which would give them more information about the case, officials said of CCPD public information.

Officers found Davila on Thursday and he was questioned. He was then taken to the scene where the vehicle was found. He was also arrested for evading arrest in a motor vehicle during the traffic stop and sent to the city detention center for booking.

Mother Angelica Quintanilla and Sister Mercedes Solis worry for Tanya's safety. They gathered family and friends near the site where police found his burned vehicle to continue their search efforts.

“We have a dive team coming, some friends coming right now with canoes. We're going to go out on the water, we've done some foot work that we can do to a certain extent,” Mercedes said. said.

Idalia Canales, Tanya's aunt, said they searched several areas of Corpus Christi, but she believes her niece is nearby and hopes Davila will tell police what happened.

“All we want to do is find where she is so we can put her to rest,” Canales said. “That’s all we ask of him, ask of him.”

Mercedes said Tanya had done so much for her and for others and now it was their turn to do something for her, to bring her home.

“She was a loving person, when you needed her she was there, there was never a minute she would never be there for you,” Mercedes said.

Sylvia Solis has joined the search efforts and is encouraging the community to contact police if they know anything about Tanya's whereabouts.

“Tanya is a mother, a daughter, a sister,” Sylvia said. “Someone knows something. We're asking the community to help us and get us home safely. If anyone knows any information, we're asking you to contact the police department.”

Mercedes said she would not give up the search for Tanya.

“We need you at home, your children need you most of all,” Mercedes said. “We're losing our minds, we're here day and night for you. We're not going to stop until we find you, dead or alive.”
