Hampstead teenager in Bafta Young Game Designers final

Hitha Rashvin beat hundreds of other hopeful entrants to reach the final of the Bafta Young Game Designers competition.

The 13-year-old student from Hampstead was shortlisted in the Game Concept 10-14 category for her game, Ice Survivor.

Hitha Rashvin said: “I am delighted and excited about the exposure I will gain by interacting with the who's who of the gaming industry.

“I look forward to all the expert advice and learnings from this incredible journey.”

Other finalists from North London included Isabella Zhang, 14, from Northwood, who was also shortlisted in the Game Concept category for her game 'Kitty Crash'.

In the annual competition, which has been promoting young talent since 2010, budding game designers from across the country, aged 10 to 18, compete for two prizes.

The YGD Game Concept Award recognizes the most original and well thought-out game idea.

The YGD Game Making Award celebrates the most impressive use of coding skills to create a game prototype.

These games were judged for their creativity and technical execution.

Winners will be selected based on their game design and suitability for the chosen platform.

The aim is to encourage these young talents towards careers in game design, making the industry more accessible to future generations.

This year's awards ceremony is scheduled for June 27 at 12 p.m.

It will be broadcast digitally on Bafta's YouTube channel and will be hosted by comedian and actor Inel Tomlinson.

The 2024 winners will be showcased as part of the Power Up exhibition at the Science Museum in London and the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester from June 28.
