Hamilton Township Man Charged With Murder In Stabbing Incident

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at approximately 5:19 p.m., the Hamilton Township Police Department responded to a stabbing in progress at 789 Park Road, Mays Landing, NJ, following multiple 911 calls.

Upon arrival, officers found Solomon Lonner, 49, of Lakewood with multiple stab wounds inside the residence.

Lonner, the owner of the residence, was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, NJ, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Michael Carney, 39, of Mays Landing, was detained at the scene and later charged with murder and weapons offenses.

Carney was a resident of the Park Road home, renting it with several others from Lonner.

The cause and manner of Lonner's death are pending an autopsy by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Major Crimes Unit and the Hamilton Township Police Department are currently investigating the incident.
