“Habitual criminal” sentenced to more than 14 years on drug charges, fleeing Rowan County deputies – Queen City News

ROWAN COUNTY (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man was sentenced to 14 to 18.8 years in prison for drug trafficking and fleeing from deputies, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.

Rodriquez Dwane Mashore, 43, was convicted last week by a Rowan County jury of:

  • 3 counts of criminal possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II narcotics
  • Crime flee to escape
  • Impaired driving
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Being a habitual criminal

On August 30, 2022, deputies say Mashore ran from them during a traffic stop. A precision immobilization technique (PIT) was used and Mashore's vehicle spun.

As the vehicle spun, drugs were ejected from the vehicle, authorities said. Mashore and a passenger were arrested with several drugs, including crack cocaine, powder cocaine and Fentanyl. Cocaine was also found on Mashore's person.

Mashore has previously been convicted of several other charges in Rowan County:

  • Crime of possession of cocaine
  • Felony Possession of a Firearm on Educational Property
  • Crime of possession with intent to deliver a counterfeit narcotic
  • Crime of obtaining property by false pretenses

The Rowan County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit, the Salisbury Police Department and Deputy District Attorney Ashley Smith all participated in this latest investigation and conviction.
