Gunshot victim found in vehicle at KC car wash

KANSAS CITY — Law enforcement is investigating the latest homicide in Kansas City.

Just before 6:30 p.m. Friday, officers were patrolling the area of ​​31st and Van Brunt when they heard gunshots, according to KCPD Capt. Jake Becchins.

They immediately went to the area to investigate further and were directed to the car wash just south of Interstate 70 on Van Brunt. Police found a vehicle containing an unconscious adult male shooting victim.

Officers rendered aid and called emergency medical services to the scene. Emergency services provided treatment and declared the victim dead on the spot. Detectives and crime scene investigators have been searching for witnesses and processing evidence in hopes of gaining a better idea of ​​what led to the shooting and leads to identify the suspect(s).

The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred in the area of ​​the Interstate 70 eastbound off-ramp to Van Brunt Boulevard.
