Guns stolen from store recovered, teens arrested | KWKT

Corsicana, Texas (FOX 44) – Corsicana Police report that a large number of firearms stolen from a local sporting goods store have been recovered and four teenagers have been arrested following a burglary Monday morning.

Corsicana Police Chief Robert Johnson said the robbers dropped several weapons as they fled Brinson Power Sports in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Corsicana.


Chief Johnson said he received a call at 2:14 a.m. Monday, the caller saying a burglary was in progress at the store. The caller reported seeing someone break a glass door with a large hammer and enter the building.

The witness reported seeing four people running from the building carrying “arms full” of guns. The witness attempted to follow them and was last seen in the area of ​​East 9th Street and South Parham. Police arrived on scene at 2:17 a.m. and discovered a total of nine abandoned weapons.

Chief Johnson said analysis of evidence found at the scene led to the rapid arrest of four suspects and the recovery of a stolen vehicle in Ennis. Police also recovered stolen driver's licenses and ID cards, Social Security cards, counterfeit money and various narcotics. During the investigation, a total of 21 firearms were recovered in Corsicana, Bardwell, Ellis County and Ennis. Four weapons were still missing.

Three of the suspects arrested were 14 years old and the fourth was 15 years old. All lived in the Ennis area and were transported to the Ellis County Juvenile Detention Center.

Chief Johnson thanked several civilian community members who stepped in to provide information, which allowed officers to quickly recover most of the weapons. He also expressed gratitude to the Ellis County Sheriff's Department and Ennis police for their assistance.

Chief Johnson stressed that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are considered likely.
