Greensboro stabbing victim was suspect's ex-girlfriend, authorities say

A 28-year-old Greensboro man is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend, police and the Guilford County District Attorney's Office said.

Zachary Small allegedly stabbed Chancy Beck, 47, to death Monday at a home the two shared at 5520 Forest Road and then called police to report the crime, police and the Guilford County District Attorney's Office said.

According to the Guilford County Sheriff's Office, Small is charged with first-degree murder.

Deputies were called to the residence around 9:33 a.m., where they found Beck dead from multiple stab wounds, the release said.

Investigators later arrested and charged Small.

Small, who faces life in prison without parole or the death penalty if convicted, is currently being held at the Guilford County Detention Center in Greensboro without bail, the statement said.

The investigation is ongoing and authorities have not released information about the weapon used.

Small is scheduled to appear in court on August 7.
