Grass fire stopped on Highway 29 in American Canyon

A vegetation fire briefly broke out around noon Thursday on Highway 29 before being stopped within minutes, according to the American Canyon Fire Protection District.






An American Canyon Fire firefighter helped extinguish a grass fire that broke out near Highway 29 shortly before noon Thursday.

Fire crews were dispatched to the highway just south of Kimberly Drive at 11:57 a.m. and arrived about two minutes later, according to Laura Provencher, a spokeswoman for American Canyon Fire. Crews were able to control the flames within five minutes and then extinguish the fire, which spread to about 100 square feet, Provencher said.

No structures were threatened by the fire and the cause remains under investigation, according to Provencher.
