Grass fire in Edroy causes preventive evacuations

Residents were allowed to return home.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Nueces County Department of Emergency Services No. 1 Fire Chief Michael Clack said so far about 50 acres have been lost to a large fire. grass near Edroy.

This is one of the departments helping to control the fire.

Two fires were reported in San Patricio County early Saturday evening: one in Sinton and one near Edroy.

San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera said the one in Sinton was near County Road 2023 and was under control.

The San Patricio County Emergency Management Facebook page said later Saturday evening that the fire near Edroy was 95% contained after being managed by multiple agencies early in the evening.

Clack said precautionary evacuations were ordered, but no homes were lost.

However, residents in the area said their homes were damaged by smoke.

A large grass fire in the Edroy area has caused homes in the general area around the fire to be evacuated. Our office works with the American Red Cross to meet the needs of displaced people.

Rivera said the fire was large. The Beeville Fire Department is one of the agencies helping. The firefighters posted a video on their Facebook page.

Beeville and the Tynan Fire Department are on the scene of a large grass fire that was threatening the town of Edroy in San Patricio County.
