Granville man arrested for DWI and charged with drugs and weapons

GRANVILLE, NY (WNYT) – Robert Gimmler III, 33, of Granville, faces multiple charges including driving under the influence of alcohol, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon, according to Mechanicville police.

Gimmler was arrested after police received a call about suspicious activity in the area of ​​77 South Central Ave. Friday morning, police said.

During the investigation, police said they observed Gimmler operating a vehicle while he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Further investigation revealed that Gimmler had a loaded illegal handgun and significant quantities of crack/power cocaine and methamphetamine.

Gimmler was accused of:

• 1st degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
• 3rd degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
• Criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree
• Criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree
• 2nd degree, criminal use of drug paraphernalia
• Driving a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs
• CFA
• Drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle
