Grant Fire: Fire and smoke in Rancho Cordova as crews battle blaze

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — Crews stopped the progress of the so-called Grant Fire that broke out in Rancho Cordova Wednesday afternoon.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said the fire was burning in the area of ​​Grant Line Road and White Rock Road. It covers approximately 119 acres. The fire spread at a moderate pace before stopping progress, according to firefighters.

The fire is currently 50% contained. No structures were threatened by the fire. The cause is still under investigation.

If you live in a wildfire-prone area, Cal Fire suggests creating a defensible space around your home. A defensible space is an area around a building in which vegetation and other debris are completely clear. At least 100 feet is recommended.
