According to Wright, when she went to pick up Bryson, there were three people in the car: his mother, his father and a man she didn't know. A few days later, the teen was picked up by his mother, father and an adult man, but not before calling the police. Minutes after they left, a police officer stopped them, but Bryson was not in the car.

When asked what could have happened to the 14-year-old in such a short time, Wright responded that “the only thing the officers said [her] “They probably put him in another vehicle and that car drove away.”
