Grandmother of missing Ohio County baby Miya Rudd arrested

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Kentucky State Police said the grandmother of a missing Ohio County baby was arrested Sunday.

Police say they went to Billie Smith's home while searching for missing 8-month-old Miya Rudd.

While at the home, officers said they discovered Smith had an unrelated warrant for her arrest in connection with an incident in Daviess County in 2023. She was taken into custody and is being held on bail. $25,000 bond.

As officers entered the driveway leading to the Smith residence, officers say they saw Timothy L. Roach of Owensboro throw Suboxone without a prescription under his vehicle. He was also arrested.

Officials said they did not find the baby at Smith's home.

The baby's parents, Tesla Tucker and Cage Rudd, along with grandfather Ricky Smith, were arrested last week. They face charges of child abandonment, abuse and drugs. They are due in court Monday morning.

The investigation into the disappearance of a child was opened on Thursday after a search and welfare check concerning Miya Rudd (Tucker). Police say she was last suspected of being in her parents' custody, but she could not be located.

Kentucky State Police are asking anyone with information to contact Post 16 at 270-826-3312.
