Investigators say it was the adult grandchildren of an elderly South Pasadena woman who found her stabbed to death in her home Tuesday night.

The victim's grandchildren were making a welfare check around 8:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Brent Avenue when they found their grandmother on the ground bleeding and called 911.

“They went to the location where they found a white adult female suffering from stab wounds to her upper torso. Firefighters responded and he was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Lt. Michael Modica of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau.
