Grand Forks man sentenced to 40 years in prison for child pornography crimes

GRAND FORKS, N.D. — A Grand Forks man is sentenced to 40 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release for charges related to receipt and possession of child pornography.

Nicholas Morgan-Derosier pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to possession and receipt in September 2023. Grand Forks police searched the home and found more than 6,000 explicit sexual abuse images and videos on prepubescent minors, and found evidence that Morgan-Derosier was raped or sexually violated. attacked numerous other minors.

“This defendant’s monstrous behavior toward children makes this severe sentence appropriate,” said Mac Schneider, United States Attorney for the District of North Dakota. “This defendant preyed on children online and in real life, and the public is safer now that he is in the long-term custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. I commend our office’s First Assistant Prosecutor, Jenifer Puhl, our colleagues at Main Justice, and our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners for ensuring that this defendant was brought to justice.

In addition to 40 years in prison, Morgan-Derosier is ordered to pay $39,000 in fines to 13 victims for his crimes.
